Board Meeting Minutes

November 8, 2006

 

 

The AMFA Board of Directors meeting was held at 10:45 a.m. at Hibbing Community College on Wednesday, November 8, 2006.  Members present: Dan Larson, Dave Hogan, Dave Sarvela, Rusty Hoglund.   Program Committee: Mary Brandt.

 

Minutes from the October 11, 2006, meeting approved.  Motion by Larson, 2nd by Hoglund.

 

Financial reports were approved on a motion from Hoglund, 2nd by Larson. 

It was noted that AR has declined since the last meeting.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Membership Committee –

Delinquent:        DEED: Hogan talked to Jim Wrobleski, discussion still in process.

Smart Screen Systems:  Unlikely to renew.

LHB: Larson will talk to their representative.

New Members:  Teamworks and Dynamic Machining.  Motion to approve both new membership applications.  Hoglund, 2nd Sarvela.

 

Program CommitteeMary Brandt

December 13 -   Hogan will follow up with Mike Koppy on potential program.

Possible backup: “Leadership Development for Families & Closely Held Businesses.” RSM McGladrey

January 10Holiday Party/Annual Meeting.  Savana Portage in Floodwood.  Brandt will arrange.

 

Government Affairs Committee – Rusty Hoglund.  Duluth Days was very successful last year.  Hoglund suggested picking a topic and pushing for assistance on that issue.

Hoglund will announce a pre-meeting to discuss possible topics/agenda items to push at the next Duluth Days on February 5-6, 2007.

 

OLD BUSINESS

Hill Reference Library:   Dan Larson reporting.

·         Possibility of working through MMA rather than just AMFA to increase membership pool

·         Goal is to increase value to current/new AMFA members

·         Larson is still talking with Jim Poole (sit down meeting pending)

 

Update from Nominating Committee: Secretary – Dave Sarvela.  Treasurer – Rusty Hoglund. 

Hogan will call for nominations at the membership meeting.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Meeting Fees: Current fee for meal/meeting is $15/person.  Motion made by Larson, 2nd by Hoglund to keep the meal fee at $15/person. 

Discussion on purchase of digital projector: for the number of times needed, it’s not worth the cost.

Nonmember Policy:  $35/person.  There was confusion on this issue, so no action was taken.

 

AMFA Credit Card:  Would facilitate purchasing in instances such as paying for meals at events/meetings.  Access to credit card is limited to those authorized to write checks for AMFA. Motion by Sarvela, 2nd by Hogan.

 

Next BOD meeting: Wednesday, December 13th at 10:30 a.m. in Duluth.
