AMFA Brings the Voice of Manufacturers to the Capitol
AMFA was again a very visible voice for industry and support services at the 2009 St. Louis County and Duluth Days at the Capitol, held February 9-10. While the forecasted ice storm kept many participants home, a dedicated contingency represented AMFA, including: Dan Larson, Rusty & Sandy Hoglund, Gary Werkhoven and Dave Sarvela.
A take away from this year’s event was the legislators’ expression of true interest in learning about and being involved in AMFA and its service to our region. AMFA would be missing an opportunity if we did not actively invite staff from regional legislators to participate on committees and get involved with the business functions of our organization. As chair of the AMFA Membership Committee, Dan Larson
has agreed to take this charge, and under board approval, develop a legislative network to support our members.
The voice of manufacturing was a clearly heard: we do not need new programs or money. We need more effective use of current tax dollars - without raising taxes- to support our members and their employees in success.
